I have taped a long piece of paper on the wall and put a cup of paint with a paint brush about every 3 feet. I had four children at a time paint the paper that they stood in front of. They enjoyed having so much space to paint and started to ask each other (with Teacher help) if they could trade colors.

For art we place out sponges and paper plates of different colored paint and allow the children to hit the paper with the sponges, squeeze the sponges, and paint with the sponges. The children get to explore color mixing, sounds, sensory exploration of the paints, and enhance their gross and fine motor skills.

Stickers is always a favorite with the toddlers. Sometimes they can take the stickers off themselves and then stick them down. Other times, I will start the sticker for them and then they can take it off all the way. It requires a lot of concentration and practice to be able to take a sticker off and put it on the paper. It is really fantastic fine motor practice! We have put stickers on paper several times and just recently put them on boxes and they loved that!

Placing them in a small plate next to the child they're given a piece of paper with glue on it and the children take time putting their items onto their paper-as much or as little as they want.

Well with my kids we love art time so we love to use our hands and fingers to make our paintings. One of the favorite things to do is combine different colors onto a piece of paper folded in half down the middle, and we align different paint colors down the middle of the paper , fold the paper in half again, smushing the colors all together as if to flatten the paper out. Then as we open the paper there is what appears to be a beautifully colored butterfly or whatever the kids like to imagine. The kids really seem to enjoy all the different shapes and are proud of their art work.
