It is important to take extra steps in planning events to ensure that your event will be successful. You need to take into consideration the type of event you're having and make sure it is appealing to the families and ages of students that you are serving. It needs to be engaging and fun, and not too long and boring. It should not be too long or too expensive. You also need to consider what time you're holding the event, to make sure it will work with many families schedules (not too late, not during other planned events).

It is very important to take extra steps in planning events like giving families enough notice and make the event fun, not too long or boring. when planning events consider all age groups of children. The event will be more successful.

It is crucial to do extra planning to have the best run out. scheduling times is very important sending out an email to see what time feels best for the majority works. Also not expecting all after hours gathering to be fund raisers. promoting it as a time to gather and get to know one another best over a fun activity based function.

To make sure it will be fun and engaging for the students. So that the students will want to attend and will encourage their parents to bring them. Also, to make sure that the parents will not have conflicts and will be able to attend

Its beneficial to do your research and find events that everyone will enjoy so that families will be motivated to come. Having a annual parent meeting to discuss the upcoming years events will allow for discussion and new ideas that families will feel they are part of creating.

its important to take extra steps and extra effort when planning an event so that things go smoothly if you take extra care and consider what needs to be done. Families will appreciate the planning when they have fun and look forward to the next event.

Because the family is busy, with work, activities like sport, etc we need to have a plan and good schedule for the family program.

You want to give the families plenty of notice so they can clear their schedule and be able to attend. You want to make it worthwhile for the families to attend so they don't feel like they wasted their evening. You want to make it well thought out and fun so the families can feel like they are part of the school team, and showing the kids they support the teachers. You also want to make the event possible for families and try to think of ways to make it not cost anything as families may not be able to afford an extra activity. The goal is to get as many families there as possible.

If you are going to take the time and energy it takes to put on after-hours events, it is important that you make them events that families will come to. It actually usually takes quite a bit of extra work to put on an event, and the purpose of it is to create a connection between families and the center, so you definitely want to ensure it is well-attended; therefore, it is beneficial to take the extra steps needed to ensure you accomplish that goal.

Family events are suppose to be fun and if the family and school can't come to agreements, most likely it falls negative on the child.

Taking ALL into consideration will never hurt and planning so everyone will have fun and be successful is always the best choice to make.

Extra steps in planning makes for a more successful event -
Consider the interest and value of the event for busy families. Make sure the students are excited about attending the event. Research potential conflicts affecting your population. Survey your families about best time and potential interest. A little time invested in planning will pay off with a more successful event that everyone can enjoy.

with todays parents having work and possibly schedules that conflict within the family, its so important to provide at least two weeks before event to alert parents on an upcoming event. at the beginning of the year submit a form asking for good times and or times available.

Programs need to start with respect for a busy family's time and resources. Fair notice should be given so they have enough time to plan for a special event. Today's families are already busy, stressed and tired. They will make an effort to attend an event that benefits their child and family, not the center. Events should refresh, inspire or benefit families. Care should be taken so that every event is not a fundraiser as parents can resent repeated requests for more.

Planning an after school event can be very problematic because there are so many unknowns and factors beyond a school’s control. The best way is to have a committee that sufficiently represents all groups involved - parents, teachers, administration, and students, and then sufficient time for the committee to thresh out the minutest details regarding logistics, communication, funding, and marketing.

It beneficial to take extra steps so you know the family's will know what is being planned and know they you are taking the extra time to make it special. You need to make sure it something the children will want to do and not cost extra money on the family.

It is important because it will help make sure the most families can come and feel wanted and fun, not just using a night for financial gain.

Planning is key. Sometimes a beginning-of-the-year questionnaire is helpful to find out about the interests of the parents, commitment level, best times, themes/topics, etc. We always try to have our events FUN, inclusive, family-oriented, providing incentives and often a simple meal. More families participate if refreshments or a lite meal is involved. Don't be afraid to think outside the box to add interest and novelty to your gatherings. One of our favorite, most successful events is our Black-light ZUMBA in a darkened gym. We have an actual Zumba instructor provide the moves and music, and fun lighting, while we provide the water, glow sticks, and a basket raffle. Children as young as two might not get the steps (I'm challenged, too) but the youngest ones move to the beat and have a blast, along with the older ones, like me!

It is beneficial to take extra steps when planning an after hours event to make sure that you successfully plan something that your families will want to take part in. That extra is what can make a huge difference in what you are planning.

It is important to take extra steps when planning an after-hours event in order to make sure that the families will want to participate in. If you do not take the time to find out what the families are interested in and time they have available, the turnout may not be very good. So looking at all the angles and researching it thoroughly will make it be successful.

Life can be super busy and adding something more to it can be stressful for some parents. You need to take parents schedules into consideration. Make the activities fun and inviting. Give parents plenty of notice so they can schedule it in. Plan something that you know will attract families into wanting to come and join in the fun.

It is important because you want it to be successful and enjoyable to all who attend. Do want to be able to plan something that will be well attended and a great impact on all who attend. If it is not well planned then you should expect that the turn out will be less then expected.

When planning an after hours event, it is beneficial to take extra steps to ensure optimal turn out and community participation. For example, taking into account families' work schedules, giving plenty of advance notice, and limiting the number of events at which a monetary contribution is expected for participation, are all helpful things to kee in mind when planning.

It is important when planning events that it is fun and interesting for the children you are serving as well as their families. The event should not be too long or be too expensive. Care should be taken to give parents ample notice of the event and the time of day to be able to include as much participation as possible. This in turn will make a more successful event.

Parents have busy lives as is and an after-school program can fall low on their list easily if not planned correctly. It is vital to take extra steps when planning as to assist the success rate of your event. By planning far in advance with feedback provided by parents you can help ensure that those who do come will spread good news about the event,

We as educators know the importance when lesson planning to focus on children's interests and then modify it to meet individual learning styles and needs. Why wouldn't we do the same for the community and families we serve too. Things we have to consider when planning events are what are the best times for the families we serve, if all the inforamtion presented is translated in their home language or provide translators to encourage and assist in family participation. Is it fun and engaging, should we provide food since it might be interrupting normal dinner times. Sometimes providing an incentive for coming can make the difference. Sometimes we will reach out to our local zoo and aquarium and ask for family tickets and have a raffle at the end of our events to give back for taking time out of their busy lives to partner with us in educating the children as a whole.
