Play promotes intellectual development while the children learn new things about where and what they are playing with. It also evokes
creativity through things like role play. Creativity can enhance social development as children and caretakers talk about what they are doing and playing with. Emotional connections are made too as the children are realizing things that give them satisfaction and make them happy as well how they feel when they're tired of something.
All the while physical development is taking place as they move to explore and discover areas and objects.

Play is important to young children because;
it is the beginning of making sense of their world for example through pretend play,

it helps the foundation of their brain development in making connections,

it creates opportunities for creativity and imagination,

it also gives opportunities for children to begin playing side by side and later playing together which is a focus when teaching young children, needing that social emotional development.

it is the basis for their learning and our teaching.

Play time for young children , infants and Toddlers is important because play time is learning time. It gives them a wide range self learning time as they are having fun. Toddlers and infants are more interested in learning how they can build their physical skills and brain developlemt then old children. Play time for this age group should always be child lead.
