None of these myths were new to me since I am pretty aware of all the vaccines working in childcare.

I was suprised by the SIDS connection to vaccines, though it makes sense considering the fact that the first year of life is when a lot of the vaccines are given out.

Yes , I've never heard of some of these myths before, so yes I was surprised by some. Like vaccines may cause sids. If this one had any truth I would of most certainly heard of it. Also small traces of aluminum. Never heard of this in a vaccines. Now I know. There's just no getting away from all aluminum.

Yes, it was surprising to see the myths all together. Each family that has chose to not receive a particular vaccine always has their reasoning. I liked seeing the myth resolved. I also never had heard about the SIDS myth, very interesting.

Doesn't surprise me in the least. People will believe anything that is printed in some situations. What they don't take into consideration is paper doesn't refuse ink. You can write anything, doesn't make it factual.

I am not surprised. People get easily influenced with social media, and hear one negative thing about vaccines and they will be against it. Instead of doing what is better for the masses, they worry about one thing they may have heard instead of researching or speaking with their doctor.

The myth that vaccines have a lot of aluminium and that it can be a cause of SIDS were surprising to me. I think they are interesting because I am aware that they go through many CDA and other federal tests before they go on the market to ensure safety. If they have been around so long and have cause such drastic issues, I am sure they would have discontinued them.

The only one I haven’t heard before is that they can cause SIDS, but in all the training and information I’ve learned about SIDS, I know that’s not true.

Being a center that requires vaccines or vaccine exemptions I have heard all of these "myths" and more so I was not surprised at them. I think that while there is obvious value in vaccination (my own children are vaccinated) I don't believe it is our place to tell parents how to raise their children. In order to get the vaccine exemption in our state they must go through a process of education from their pediatricians. And offering education on the topic is all that we can do. We must honor their legal right to refuse even if we don't agree.

No it doesn’t surprise me. Sometimes there is too much information available on the internet and much of it is incorrect. New parents want the best for their children and are only trying to protect them, it doesn’t take much for them to become afraid of vaccines based on false information .

the "myth" that surprised me was the traumatic one and how it explained "kids don't enjoy vaccines but they aren't traumatic about them" i disagree because a lot of kids are traumatic about vaccines because they hurt for them.

I was surprised about how many myths there were. I had only heard the one about autism which never sounded valid to me. The one about trauma struck a cord with me, though- my daughter happens to be traumatized by needles and we have had to really work at making vaccinations happen. It's quite a terrible thing. But she is getting old enough to really understand the explanation about why we have them and she is stronger now than she used to be about it. It is true and we have used it in our education to her that the trauma of getting polio or of her contracting the flu and passing it on to all of her friends and their families...the strife that it causes in the wake of passing the illness around...is worse than the temporary trauma of receiving a shot. I wish there was more understanding in the medical field about how these moments are handled- we have had such a hard time getting support. There should be more education for young children as well as more understanding and patience in the nursing field. Just because nurses and doctors don't mind getting shots and think it "doesn't hurt" it doesn't mean all children feel the same way and will just "buck up and be strong about it". Some kids have sensory issues or past traumas that make that approach terribly wrong.

One of my friends told me that a vaccine gave their child a seizure, and thats why they didn't like getting their kids vaccinated. I was shocked that a vaccine would cause a seizure? in a way it didnt seem quite right and I didnt want to pry. But I did learn that some vaccines give a child a fever and the fever is what results in a seizure. But you can still get a high fever if you just have the flu or an ear infection which can result in. seizure

This "Truth" is everywhere and it's causing parents to make unhealthy choices for their children based on misinformation that is still everywhere in our society. I have heard people say the information was false but it is still advertised otherwise in certain forums.
