The atmosphere of your classroom plays an important role in the success of your students. The environment needs to be clean, inviting, and comfortable for children. Remember that your students spend a good amount of time in that space. Classroom environments that are safe and welcoming can help your students become more engaged and motivated in the learning process. It can also be exciting for your students to make small changes to the décor in your room to match the theme you are teaching. Here are a few Dr. Seuss inspired ideas: 

Truffula Trees 
These can be made by gluing a pool noodle to a paper tissue pom pom (the kind that are hung from the ceilings at parties). Use black or colored duct tape for the stripes on the trunk of the tree. 
Reading Nook 
Make a cozy spot for your students to read using red, white and blue pillows (traditional Dr. Seuss colors). Be sure to display their favorite Dr. Seuss books in this area as well. 

Inspirational Quotes
Dr. Seuss is famous for his inspirational quotes and sayings. Print and cut some of them out and hang them around your room for students to read and reflect on.

* Be sure to display your students’ work throughout the unit. Doing so will help them develop pride and ownership as well as encourage personal reflection of the topic.*

By understanding that the physical classroom environment affects the learning and morale of your students, you can make small adjustments to make your classroom more appealing and inspiring for them.
