Letter Recognition
In many children’s books, letter recognition is taught. Often it is taught by the delivery of letters coupled with their sounds. In Chicka Chicka Boom Boom especially, the letter names are involved which helps children make the connections needed to recognize the letters of the alphabet. This book also gives students the opportunity to recognize that letters look and sound different from others.
After children surpass the level of Chicka Chicka Boom Boom they can advance to letter and word recognition by reading and pointing out sight words in other Bill Martin Jr. books such as Listen to the Rain and Kitty Cat, Kitty Cat, are you Waking Up? |
