“The Harry Potter books are too hard for the students in my classroom to read.”
- Desmond The Harry Potter books make wonderful read-alouds! Try incorporating the books into this part of your day. Also, be sure you are letting your students decide what books are or aren’t too difficult. Children need to be given the opportunity to choose “just-right” books for themselves.

“I think Harry Potter is too dark for children, especially the later books.”
- Celia One of the wonderful things about the Harry Potter series is that the books develop in complexity and subject matter. The first books are ‘light’ while still being engaging. Books 6 and 7 do have a darker undertone, however they are not inappropriate for school-age children.
