Nap Time |
Page 9 |
First and foremost, make nap time a positive experience.
Do not force kids to sleep but instead allow them to rest and relax. Often this will lead to sleep but even if it does not the child will benefit from a calming period of rest.
Use a calm and soothing voice.
Children will no doubt test your patience but you cannot allow them to change your mood to a negative one. The tone of your voice is going to largely impact your exchange with the children in your care. It only makes sense to remain calm and positive in the tone of your voice.
Say positive things.
Using statements that do not place blame give children an idea of what needs to happen without distracting them. Say things such as “it’s time to lie down and rest” or “please take a few moments to lie down on your mat” allows the child to focus on the goal of nap time.
