Begin the activity by introducing Monet. Give students a brief biography and answer any questions they may have about him. Be sure to show students a picture of him as well as a variety of his works.
Tell students that they will be studying the painting Water Lilies by Monet. Show them a picture of it, and have a class discussion.
Encourage students to create their own water lily piece of art using the different colored tissue paper.
As the students are working, ask them various questions about Monet and his style of artwork.
Observe and record students as they create. How did they go about using the new materials? During the activity, did they share any information or ideas about Monet?
