Facial Expressions
It is important to give similar facial expressions that the children have when they are communicating with you. For example, if a child is telling you an exciting story and is grinning ear-to-ear, it is appropriate to mirror that expression with a smile of your own. A frown, however, would not be an appropriate facial expression for this instance. Tone
The caregiver’s tone of voice should match the child’s mood. If, for instance, the child is talking about something very sad and is in a melancholy mood, the caregiver should be using a calm and quiet tone of voice.
