“There is a child in my class that is very difficult to understand. How can I help him?”
-Vern As previously stated in the training course, you must document what you are seeing and refrain from giving a medical diagnosis of any kind. If you are seeing challenges that you can address with your instruction and program planning, however, use the documented observational data to inform that planning to support those skills for the child.

“My assistant teacher unfairly compares the infants’ speech development in our classroom. I don’t think this is a good idea, but how do I tell her?”
-Naomi It is important that your assistant teacher be well aware of the developmental milestones that infants experience, but also be aware that each child is vastly different. Milestones are general guidelines and will change for each child and at different rates. She shouldn’t judge or rate a child’s development, but should instead assist in documenting it objectively.
