The Benefits of Co-Teaching


There are a numerous benefits to co-teaching for students and co-teachers alike. Here are just a few:

Benefits for Co-Teachers
​Improved classroom management. 
​
Teachers are able to implement new management strategies learned from their co-teacher. Along with that, there will be two sets of eyes to see and address any inappropriate behaviors.
​Better problem-solving. 
​
Co-teaching encourages teachers to bounce ideas and solutions off one another. Two heads are better than one.

Teaching although amazingly rewarding, can be an exhausting job. If you have a co-teacher, you always have someone there to help. Now, this does not mean that all of the work will be split evenly down the middle every day. Like the previous video mentioned, co-teaching is like a marriage. Often, one person will need to take the brunt of the load. Then, you will switch. 

Benefits for Students
More one-on-one time. 
When co-teaching, the amount of students you are educating rarely is 50/50. This means that while one teacher is conducting circle time with a larger group of students, the other can focus on small group instruction.
**Please note, you must still be in licensing ratios at all times. If you have any questions about this, please talk to your director**
Diversified instruction.
Each child learns differently. If you have more than one teacher in the classroom, children can have information presented in two different ways. This helps to ensure that every child in the room understands concepts.
