All children need open spaces to run, jump, climb, sing, pretend, and discover. Spaces to be kids.
Playgrounds provide them with the opportunity to do just that. Play, including the free play of playgrounds, has a significant impact on children’s learning and development. It may seem like children are just having fun while they are exploring the playground and playing with friends, but in reality, they are learning much more than meets the eye.
Playgrounds are where children test ideas. They are where creativity flourishes. Learning does not stop when they step out of the door. In fact, learning becomes more tangible and real for children here. Playgrounds are an extension of the classroom. The play that happens while outside lights up children’s brains.
