Children will experience a new sensory activity while becoming familiar with numbers

CDA Competency Standard: II.4.3a Activities and materials encourage children to develop their senses. a) Sight, sound, smell, taste and touch experiences are encouraged through a variety of developmentally appropriate materials and activities
Hot glue gun
Parchment paper or cutting board

Prepare the materials by making numbers out of hot glue on the parchment paper or cutting board. When the letters are cooled and dry, peel them off and mix them in the bin with the colored rice.
Invite the toddler to explore the sensory bin and discover the “invisible” numbers. Provide scoops, cups, brushes or other tools to move the rice around, if you desire.
Observe the toddler’s ability to recognize numbers that they’ve seen before. Did they know the names of the numbers?
