Why do I Need a Strong Team?


Having a strong working relationship with your colleagues should be a priority for childcare professionals. 
The more cohesive a team, the better results for everyone and in childcare settings this includes the children. Being that the nucleus of a childcare center is the children themselves the team should be centered around the children.
​Creating a team that works well together in supporting and caring for one another will result in a successful center with less turnover, higher morale, and higher job satisfaction. The director or administrator plays a key role in developing this type of environment and must nurture it’s maturation as much as possible.

Habits of a Strong Team
It is no secret that directors and administrators wear many hats in their professional lives. Often times they are pulled in several directions seemingly at once. Creating a strong team of staff alleviates a lot of the strain that directors will experience. This is because strong teams will do many of the following things quite naturally.
Solve Conflict  
A strong team will solve conflict in a responsible and mature manner where all parties are satisfied with the outcome.
Set Goals 
Goal setting keeps all team members working for the same end result and a strong team will set their own goals to align with the bigger goals of the center.
Get Along 
It seems silly, but having staff that actually like one another helps to rid the center of unwanted issues that arise. Some call it “drama” or “conflict” but it can often be chalked up to something as simple as not liking one another.
Work Hard 
One staff member who is fulfilled in their job will often go above and beyond in their work ethic. An entire team will strive for excellence in the same way.
Stay Positive 
Whether there is a lice outbreak or a long staff meeting a strong team will stay positive and get through whatever obstacles are in their path.
